What coverages do I have to buy?
The State of Utah requires all vehicles to have liability insurance and personal injury protection (PIP).

Liability insurance includes bodily injury and property damage coverages for the drivers, occupants, and owners of other vehicles when you are at fault. The coverage is sold with stated limits, which is the maximum amount the insurance company will pay per occurrence. In Utah, you must have no less than $25,000 bodily injury coverage per person per occurrence, $50,000 total bodily injury coverage per occurrence, and $15,000 total property damage coverage per occurrence.

PIP, which is also called "no-fault insurance," covers the driver and occupants of your vehicle for bodily injuries no matter who is at fault. This coverage is also sold with a stated limit. The lowest amount you can buy is $3,000 per person per occurrence.
